Privacy Policy

FoodieMama ("FoodieMama," "we," "us") is a food and travel guide app that lets you browse a creator's curated restaurant, hotel, and street-food picks on a feed and map, save places, send reservation inquiries, and chat with an in-app AI concierge. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it.

1. Data we collect

We collect the following categories of data to provide and operate the app. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising.

Location collection only occurs if you opt in to the "Near me" feature and grant the relevant permission. You can revoke location, camera, and photo permissions at any time in your device settings.

2. How we use your data

3. Authentication providers

You can sign in with email and password, Apple, or Google. When you use Apple or Google sign-in, that provider returns a verified identifier and (where available) your name and email to create your account. Authentication and our backend are powered by Supabase, which processes your account data on our behalf as a service provider.

We do not sell your personal data or share it with third parties for their own marketing.

The one substantive disclosure is the AI concierge: when you send a message to the in-app AI concierge, the text of that message is transmitted to a third-party large language model (LLM) provider solely to generate a response. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in concierge chat. We also rely on infrastructure service providers (Supabase for authentication, database, and storage, and Google Maps for map display) that process data on our behalf to operate the app. If you purchase a subscription, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google and managed through RevenueCat, our subscription-management provider, which receives your account identifier and purchase history — never your payment card details.

We do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers. The usage statistics shown to the FoodieMama team (such as how often a place is viewed) are computed from first-party events stored in our own database; they are not sent to Google Analytics or any external analytics service.

5. We do not sell or share your personal information (CCPA)

FoodieMama does not "sell" your personal information and does not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). We have not done so in the preceding 12 months. Because we do not run third-party advertising or analytics trackers, there is no advertising-related sale or share of your data. The only external transfers of personal information are to service providers and processors that handle data on our behalf under contract (Supabase, Google Maps, RevenueCat) and to the LLM provider that generates AI concierge responses — none of which use your data for their own advertising purposes.

6. Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to:

You can exercise the access, deletion, and correction rights directly in the app (Settings, including Settings → Delete account) or by emailing hello@foodiemama.app. We will verify your request using your account information and respond within the timeframes required by law. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

7. Your GDPR / UK GDPR rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with similar laws, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Where processing is based on consent (for example, optional location, phone, age range, or gender), you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

Our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract (operating your account and the core features you request), consent (optional data such as location, phone number, age range, gender, and push notifications), and our legitimate interests (keeping the Service secure and functioning). Where data is transferred to service providers outside your region, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. To exercise any right, email hello@foodiemama.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Other U.S. state privacy rights

If you are a resident of a U.S. state that has enacted a comprehensive consumer privacy law — including (but not limited to) Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and Montana — you have rights similar to those described for California residents above. Depending on your state, these include the right to access the personal data we hold about you, the right to delete it, the right to correct inaccuracies, the right to obtain a portable copy, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising, and certain profiling.

FoodieMama does not sell your personal information, does not share it for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising, and does not use it for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. To exercise any of these rights, use the same in-app controls (Settings → Delete account) or email hello@foodiemama.app. We will verify and respond to your request within the timeframe required by your state's law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. Where your state provides an appeal process, you may appeal a denied request by replying to our response.

9. International data transfers

FoodieMama operates as an online service, and your personal data may be processed in the United States and in other countries where FoodieMama or its service providers and processors operate. In particular, our infrastructure providers (Supabase for authentication, database, and storage, and Google Maps for map display) and the third-party large language model (LLM) provider that powers the AI concierge may process data in data centers located in multiple jurisdictions. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from those in your own.

Where personal data of individuals in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom is transferred to a country that has not been recognized as providing an adequate level of protection, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and, for UK transfers, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum — together with the contractual and technical measures applied by our processors. 10. Data retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your saved places (bookmarks), your user record, your authentication account, and your User Content (reviews, comments, inquiry notes, and AI concierge messages) associated with your account. Deletion completes within 30 days. AI concierge messages are retained only as long as needed to provide the feature and are removed as part of account deletion. We may retain limited records longer where required by law, to resolve disputes, or for security and fraud prevention, and we may keep aggregated or de-identified data that no longer identifies you.

FoodieMama is not directed to children and is not intended for use by children under the age required by your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
